As part of its retreat held in Luanda, Angola, the Committee of Permanent Representatives (COREP) of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) visited the headquarters of the Central African Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CEREEAC), a specialized institution of ECCAS based in Angola, on 24 August 2026.
Led by Her Excellency Ambassador Mariam Mahamat Nour, Vice-President of the ECCAS Commission, the delegation had the opportunity to learn about the Centre’s activities and initiatives aimed at promoting renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable access to energy in Central Africa.
Following the welcome remarks by Ms. Lourdes Fernandes, the delegation was guided through the Centre’s premises by Mr. Landa Shibamba João, Expert in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, who presented CEREEAC’s mandate, achievements and development prospects. Dr. Georgette Fumtchum Tamko, Technical Expert seconded to CEREEAC, then presented the main projects supported by the European Union, as well as opportunities for collaboration and partnership development in support of the region’s energy transition. The presentation highlighted CEREEAC’s strategic role in supporting ECCAS Member States towards sustainable, inclusive and resilient energy development.
At the conclusion of the project presentation, Dr. Georgette Fumtchum Tamko, on behalf of the entire CEREEAC team, expressed her sincere appreciation to Her Excellency Ambassador Mariam Mahamat Nour, the Ambassadors and all members of COREP for their presence, interest in the Centre’s activities and the quality of the discussions.
The visit continued with the signing of the CEREEAC Guest Book by Her Excellency Ambassador Mariam Mahamat Nour, Vice-President of the ECCAS Commission, a symbolic gesture reflecting the importance attached to the visit and to the Centre’s work.
